Protecting our region’s businesses from emerging cyber threats

Recognizing the urgent need for cyber protection, we launched hiboo SENTRY, an advanced cloud-based DDoS protection solution. Powered by industry-leading technology, SENTRY safeguards businesses against all types of network-based volumetric DDoS attacks.
SENTRY provides proactive detection of threats and real-time network traffic visibility to help organizations in the National Capital Region protect their critical online services, stopping attacks before they can impact businesses. Designed to seamlessly integrate with our Enterprise Internet services, this new offering will help ensure businesses in our region stay secure and operational at all times.
Driving innovation through new leadership
This Spring, we welcomed a new leader who brings fresh perspective and deep industry expertise to our team. Shea Patsula, our new Vice President & General Manager, has more than two decades of experience driving growth and innovation in telecommunications and technology.

At Discover Technata, hosted by the Kanata North Business Association, we connected with top local talent and professionals, supporting our long-term growth and innovation strategy.
At International Telecoms Week (ITW), we explored the latest trends shaping telecommunications. Through exchanging insights and ideas with peers and industry leaders, we gained valuable perspectives that will help us continue to innovate.
These connections will help us strengthen our team and our partnerships, ensuring we can deliver superior service and product offerings to Ottawa-Gatineau’s businesses now and into the future.
Ready for takeoff: What’s ahead for 2025
We’re proud of our accomplishments in the first half of the year—and energized for what’s still ahead. In the second half of 2025, we will be continuing to build momentum with more exciting partnerships, events, and products that serve our community.
Bridging the digital divide with CommuniFi
Digital connectivity shapes how we live, work, and connect. Last year, in partnership with National Capital FreeNet (NCF), Ottawa Community Housing Corporation (OCH), and the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), we launched CommuniFi, an initiative that brings free Wi-Fi to communities across Ottawa where there are economic and social inequities.
Following a successful pilot launch in late 2024, CommuniFi will now be expanding to additional local communities this year. This project will help those living on low incomes connect to educational and employment resources, health and community services, and friends and family by providing free internet access in public spaces in and around their residences.
Our fibre network is built by and for our community. We are proud to support this vital initiative through providing free fibre internet connectivity. By continuing our collaboration with fellow community organizations, we aim to bridge the digital divide in Ottawa and empower more people to learn, work, and connect.
Coming soon: A new powerful cloud on-ramp solution
As cloud adoption accelerates, businesses need faster, more secure, and more reliable ways to connect. We’ll soon be introducing an exciting new solution that will provide businesses with direct, high-speed cloud connectivity.
Our new enterprise-grade solution is designed to meet the demands of Ottawa-Gatineau’s dynamic cloud and hybrid networking landscape. With businesses increasingly relying on cloud applications, this new solution will empower businesses to securely connect to the world’s leading cloud providers and data centres with ease.
