Director, Sales

We're a fast-growing B2B ISP and data communications startup looking for a Director, Sales to spearhead our commercial and wholesale growth. This is a unique opportunity to shape our sales strategy, build a high-performing team, and drive our expansion in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.

We're not just another ISP; we are a facility-based networking company focused on delivering enterprise grade, high-speed data communications and cloud connect services to businesses. We've laid the groundwork with a 100% fiber network, and now we need an entrepreneurial sales leader to take us to the next level.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and Execute Sales Strategy: Design and implement a multi-channel sales approach to target businesses of all sizes. This includes direct sales, channel partnerships, and online strategies.
  • Build and Lead a Winning Team: Recruit, train, and mentor a talented sales team. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive Revenue Growth: Exceed ambitious sales targets by identifying new market opportunities, building a robust sales pipeline, and closing key deals.
  • Forge Strategic Partnerships: Develop and nurture relationships with local businesses, technology partners, and key influencers to expand our market reach.
  • Market and Product Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert on our services and the competitive landscape. Use your deep understanding of local data communications, security and cloud solutions to position our offerings effectively.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven Sales Leadership: 10+ years of experience in a sales leadership role within the ISP, telecommunications, or technology sectors.
  • Startup Mentality: You're a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, fluid environment. You're not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
  • Expert Knowledge: A deep understanding of the local data communications market, including fiber, data security, and cloud services. You know the players, the pain points, opportunities and what the market has been missing from the traditional incumbents.
  • Team Builder: Demonstrated success in recruiting, training, and managing high-performing sales teams.
  • Strategic Thinker: You can see the big picture and translate it into a clear, actionable sales plan.
  • Excellent Communicator: Strong presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Need to Have

  • A Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing or another related discipline
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive sales experience in the telecommunications services industry
  • A minimum of five (5) years of leadership skills with experience building and developing highly successful sales and partnerships in the technology industry
  • Extensive knowledge of the Ottawa-Gatineau B2B market, including public sector and government business communities
  • Strong background and experience with leading GTM platforms including Hubspot CRM
  • Detailed understanding of all aspects of the sales process, leveraging consistent sales coaching to success
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively lead and articulate the strategic imperatives of the business
  • Proven track record of leading and coaching teams to consistent and sustainable high performance, exceeding financial targets
  • Integrity, is trustworthy, fulfills commitments and does what is right

Great to Have

  • Professional Sales certification(s) is a strong asset
  • Telecom/networking technical training or certifications is a strong asset
  • Experience in a start-up organization and/or the IT/telecommunications industry is an asset
  • Bilingual and the ability to effectively communicate to business leaders in both English and French is an asset
